Our Story

Our journey began with a deeply personal experience. Owner and operator Eric Malkin was inspired to open the Beachwood office after watching his own aunt battle Alzheimer's disease. That experience shaped everything about how we care for others today — a mission built not just around meeting physical needs, but around preserving dignity, independence, and quality of life.

What Sets Us Apart: The Advanced Continuum of Care

Care needs rarely stay the same for long, so we designed our approach to change with them. Our Advanced Continuum of Care allows a single family to move seamlessly between:

  • Companion care for aging adults
  • Personal care following a hospital stay or surgery
  • Specialized dementia and Alzheimer's care
  • Private duty nursing services

This means families don't have to start over with a new provider every time needs evolve — we grow with you.

Our caregivers are carefully screened, thoroughly trained, and matched thoughtfully to each client, so the people caring for your loved one are consistent, attentive, and genuinely invested in their wellbeing.

Rooted in Community, Built on Trust

What started as a single office in Beachwood has grown into a trusted resource for families across Northeast Ohio. But nearly two decades later, our commitment hasn't changed: caregiving is more than a service to us. It's a promise rooted in empathy, experience, and trust — and we're honored that families invite us into their homes and their lives to help them keep it.

Frequently Asked Questions

What experience and qualifications do your caregivers have?

Every caregiver undergoes a thorough screening process, including comprehensive background checks, before joining our team. Many come to us with prior experience providing non-medical support to seniors and adults with disabilities. Beyond hiring, we invest in ongoing development — each caregiver completes a minimum of 20 hours of training per year, keeping their skills current and their care consistent.

What services do you offer?

We offer a full range of in-home support designed to meet changing needs over time, including:

  • Companionship and social engagement
  • Meal preparation and light housekeeping
  • Personal care such as bathing, dressing, and grooming
  • Mobility assistance and fall prevention support
  • Medication reminders
  • Specialized dementia and Alzheimer's care
  • Private duty nursing services
  • Respite care for family caregivers
  • 24/7 remote video connect monitoring, giving families added peace of mind between visits

How do you match caregivers to clients?

We start with an in-depth assessment of your loved one's needs, personality, and daily routine so we can identify a caregiver who's genuinely a good fit — not just available. To take the pressure off day one, we schedule an introductory first shift so your loved one and their caregiver can get comfortable together before care officially begins.

What if the caregiver isn't the right fit?

We want every match to work, but we also know personalities don't always click right away. If that happens, simply let our office know — we'll reassess and arrange a different caregiver promptly, at no hassle to your family.

How available and flexible is your care?

Our caregivers are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, including holidays. Whether you need a few hours of companionship each week or round-the-clock support, we'll work with you to build a schedule that fits your family's life — and we can adjust it as circumstances change.

How do you supervise and support your caregiving staff?

Every caregiver is supervised by our management team, with regular check-ins and performance reviews to maintain consistent quality. We also provide ongoing training throughout the year, so caregivers stay sharp on best practices in areas like dementia care, mobility support, and emergency response.

How do you communicate with families?

We believe families should never feel out of the loop. We provide regular updates on your loved one's care, and our office is available anytime you have a question or concern. Families also have access to our caregiver portal, where you can view the care schedule in real time and see the specific tasks caregivers complete during each visit.

What happens in an emergency?

All caregivers are trained in CPR and First Aid and follow clear emergency protocols. In the event of a medical emergency, caregivers are trained to contact emergency services immediately and notify the family as soon as the situation allows.

What do your services cost, and how does billing work?

Our rates are competitive and based on the level and frequency of care needed. We bill on a weekly basis and accept both ACH bank transfers and credit cards (a 3% processing fee applies to credit card payments). We're also happy to help verify insurance coverage where applicable, so you understand your options before care begins.

Do you offer a free consultation?

Yes. We start every relationship with a no-cost, no-obligation in-home consultation to understand your loved one's needs, answer your questions, and outline a care plan tailored to your family.

How quickly can care begin?

In most cases, we can begin care within 24 to 48 hours of your initial consultation, and we can move faster in urgent situations such as a hospital discharge.

Is your agency licensed, bonded, and insured?

Yes. Homewatch CareGivers of Beachwood is fully licensed, bonded, and insured, so families can feel confident and protected while we're caring for their loved ones in their home.
